Good google rankings

I have recently been checking to see if my website is appearing on search engines and I am very pleased with the rankings that whichcarehome.co.uk has been getting. Consistently appearing on the first or second pages is really great. Now I need to put some reviews of care homes in place.

I also need to plug a friend's site here as she needs the links! It is for property public relations (PR) - some good news in the property sector would be useful in these current times... so Foundation PR might help to give it.

Could do better

Well, I am still very slowly keeping the website going, but what with one thing and another things have not been going as well as I expected.

I have started to notice other sites out there in the UK to help find and choose a care home, but I think my www.whichcarehome.co.uk site still has some potential.

What I really need to do is start contacting people about care homes that they have sent relatives to, in order to start building a database.

The other thing I have been doing is assisting to maintain the Cambridge mezzanine floor company www.ace-interiors.co.uk site. These guys do partitioning and suspended ceilings in and around East Anglia (i.e. Huntingdon, Peterborough, Cambridge, Ely) and needed a website that was a bit clearer.

Anyway, I hope to have more time soon to continue to build the site.

Finding the time

So, my site is up and running and I have a few pages operational, but I have struggled to find the time to do much with it.

But I am as keen as ever to move forward. Only the other day Radio 4 (BBC) had a whole article about a woman who was "planted" in a care home and shared her experiences of what it was actually like to be a resident. It is obivious that choosing the right home and deciding which kind of care you require is so important.

An introduction to Which Care Home

A little while ago I had to help choose a care home for my grandfather. To make the decision to put him in a home was one of the most difficult decisions we as a family had to make. What was even harder was choosing the right home to put him in.

This was in the days before the CSCI's (as yet unproven) star rating system.

Doing research was actually quite hard. Care homes are generally happy to let you visit them to help you decide if they are right, but how do you even find an appropriate one to narrow your list down?

I discovered the internet was not especially useful, as care homes have been slow to get onto the web. That is why I decided to set up http://www.whichcarehome.co.uk/ to help others like me obtain reviews of care homes and to help care homes themselves establish a web presence.

The Which Care Home site is in its infancy, but I hope to log here how I go about building the site up, and how, in time, others come to find the site a valuable resource.
